YING XU, conductor, is the Artistic Director of the Heritage Chamber Music Series in Columbus GA. She is also the assistant conductor for the Schwob Philharmonic, Schwob Contemporary Ensemble, CSU Opera Program, and Columbus Ballet. A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, she made her debut conducting the premiere of Giuseppe Gallo-Balma’s atmospheric Bacá with Schwob Philharmonic and has conducted productions of La Finta Giardiniera, Guys and Dolls, and The Light in the Piazza. As a guest conductor, Ying appeared with the students of the new arts magnet school in Columbus, the Rainey McCullers School of the Arts. As well as the Eastern Festival Orchestra in Greensboro. She will continue with performances in the 2023-24 season leading repertoire including works by Bartok, Diamond, Falla, and Prokofiev.
As a guitarist, Ms. Xu has won 16 international competitions including 19th Annual Guitar symposium & competition (USA, 2018), Borguitar Festival (Italy, 2017), Mississippi Guitar Festival (USA, 2016), Florida Guitar Festival (USA, 2016), ShengYang International Guitar Festival Div. II (China 2016 & 2012), Great Composers Competition (The Music of 19th Century) (USA, 2016), Appalachian GuitarFest Solo Guitar Competition (USA, 2016), Troy University Guitar Festival (USA, 2016), ChangSha International Guitar Festival Div II (China, 2014 & 2015), Thailand International Guitar Competition (Thailand, 2014), 13th Annual Guitar symposium & competition Div. II (USA, 2012), ShenYang International Guitar Festival (Ensemble) (China 2012, 2013 & 2014), and has appeared in recitals around the world.
