기타리스트 겸 작곡가 최병욱은 8세에 기타를 시작하였다. 페페 로메로, 마누엘 바루에코, 데이비드 러셀, 존 윌리암스 등 클래식기타 대가들의 연주영상을 연구하며 독학으로 기타를 익혔다.
음악가를 꿈꾸는 많은 사람들처럼 그의 첫 직업은 음악과는 관계가 없었다. 그런데 오로지 기타에만 집중하고 싶었던 열정 때문에 항해사로 근무했던 안정된 직장을 그만두었다.
2011년에는 클래식기타 자작곡 앨범을 발표하여 사람들의 호응을 얻기 시작했고 그의 섬세한 연주는 많은 이들에게 힐링이 되고 있다. (글 Damon Mazzocco)
Guitarist and composer Jeremy Choi began his studies of the guitar at the age of seven. For most of his life, Jeremy was self-taught, having learned extensively from studying the performance videos of legendary guitarists Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, David Russell and John Williams.
Like many aspiring artists, Mr. Choi’s first professional job was not in music, but as a Navigation Officer. He resigned that position to successfully pursue his passion for the guitar.
In 2011, Jeremy released his debut album of original solo classical guitar music, to critical acclaim. Mr. Choi’s increasing number of admirers routinely refer to his music as “Therapeutic to The Soul” because of his sensitive performances. (Written by Damon Mazzocco)
