한국을 대표하는 기타리스트 배장흠은 한국예술종합학교에서 기타를 전공, 한국 기타협회 콩쿨과 대전일보 콩쿨에서 금상을 받았으며, 수십회의 개인 독주회와 한국예술종합학교 오케스트라, 수원시립교향악단, KT체임버오케스트라, 제주챔버오케스트라, 부산챔버오케스트라, 경북도립오케스트라, 청주시립교향악단, 대구시립교향악단, 부천시립교향악단,강릉시립교향악단, 유라시안필하모닉 오케스트라 ,모스틀리 필하모니, 프라임 필하모니, 서울내셔널심포니 오케스트라, 헝가리 국립오케스트라, 로드리고페스티발 오케스트라, 루마니아 국립방송교향악단, 루마니아 야쉬필하모니, 루마니아 사투마레필하모니, 러시아 블라디보스톡필하모니, 소리얼 필하모니, 광진심포니, 드림월드필하모니, 야나첵 현악사중주단, 뉴질랜드 현악사중주단, 조이 오브 스트링스등과의 협연을 통해 기타가 가진 독주악기 이상의 가능성을 보여주었으며 일본의 대표적인 영화,드라마 작곡가 요시마타 료 내한콘서트에서는 협연 및 음악감독을 맡았고 파이널판타지 월드투어 내한공연 협연, 봄 여름 가을 겨울의 콘서트 게스트 출연 등, 다른 장르의 음악과의 협업을 보여주었다.
또한 다수의 무용음악과 영화 ‘8월의 크리스마스’, ‘정사’, ‘인정사정 볼 것 없다’, ‘소름’, ‘마을금고 연쇄습격사건’, ‘장수상회’ 드라마 ‘헬로우 애기씨’, ‘스타의 연인’, ‘친구,우리들의 전설’, ‘제중원’, ‘빅맨’, ‘알함브라 궁전의 추억’등 다수의 영화와 드라마에서 작곡,편곡,연주,디렉터등으로 참여하기도 하였다.
2005년, 2010년, 2012년 아일랜드대통령과 파라과이 대통령 한국 방문때 청와대 초청으로 청와대에서 연주한바있으며, 러시아 블라디보스톡 국제 기타 페스티벌,일본 이바라키 국제 기타페스티벌,대전 국제 기타 페스티벌,대한민국 국제 기타 페스티벌,제천 국제 음악영화제등에 초청되어 연주하였다.
2006년부터 현재까지 러시아,미국,일본,칠레,볼리비아,페루등 여러나라에서 초청연주와 마스터클래스,국제 콩쿨 심사위원으로 활동하고 있으며 매년 백회이상의 활발한 연주활동으로 한국기타협회로부터 2011년 대한민국기타음악상을 수상하였다.
현재 J-Art 필하모닉 오케스트라 예술감독, 앙상블 Odeum의 리더로 활동하고있다.

Bae Jang-heum, a leading Korean guitarist, majored in guitar at the Korea National University of Arts and won gold prizes at both the Korea Guitar Association Competition and the Daejeon newspaper Competition. Through dozens of solo recitals and numerous collaborations—including performances with the Korea National University of Arts Orchestra, Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, KT Chamber Orchestra, Jeju Chamber Orchestra, Busan Chamber Orchestra, Gyeongbuk Provincial Orchestra, Cheongju Philharmonic Orchestra, Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra, Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra, Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National Symphony Orchestra, Hungarian National Orchestra, Rodrigo Festival Orchestra, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, Iași Philharmonic (Romania), Satu Mare Philharmonic (Romania), Vladivostok Philharmonic (Russia), Soreal Philharmonic, Gwangjin Symphony, Dream World Philharmonic, the Janáček String Quartet, the New Zealand String Quartet, and Joy of Strings—he has demonstrated that the guitar possesses potential that extends far beyond its role as a mere solo instrument.
He has demonstrated his versatility through collaborations across various musical genres—serving as a guest performer and music director for the Korean concert of Ryo Yoshimata, a prominent Japanese composer for film and television; performing as part of the *Final Fantasy* World Tour in Korea; and appearing as a guest artist at concerts for the band “Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Gyeoul” (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter).
Furthermore, he has contributed to numerous films and television dramas—including the films *Christmas in August*, *An Affair*, *Nowhere to Hide*, *Sorum*, *Small Town Rivals*, and *Salut D’Amour*, as well as the dramas *Hello! Miss*, *Star’s Lover*, *Friend, Our Legend*, *Jejungwon*, *Big Man*, and *Memories of the Alhambra*—by working as a composer, arranger, performer, and music director.
In 2005, 2010, and 2012, he performed at the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) at the invitation of the South Korean presidential office during the state visits of the presidents of Ireland and Paraguay.
He has also been invited to perform at numerous international events, including the Vladivostok International Guitar Festival (Russia), the Ibaraki International Guitar Festival (Japan), the Daejeon International Guitar Festival, the Korea International Guitar Festival, and the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival.
Since 2006, he has been active internationally—across Russia, the United States, Japan, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru—as a guest performer, masterclass instructor, and jury member for international competitions. In recognition of his prolific performance career, which includes over 100 concerts annually, he was honored with the “Korea Guitar Music Award” by the Korea Guitar Association in 2011.
He currently serves as the Artistic Director of the J-Art Philharmonic Orchestra and as the leader of the ensemble “Odeum.”
